Accounts

The Accounts Sector is an essential administrative division under the Thimphu Dzongkhag Administration. Its core responsibility is to ensure proper financial management, accountability, and transparency in the utilization of public funds allocated to the dzongkhag and its gewogs.

Background

The Accounts Sector of Thimphu Dzongkhag plays a crucial role in ensuring sound financial management and accountability within the dzongkhag administration. Established in line with the decentralization policy of the Royal Government of Bhutan, this sector supports the planning and implementation of development activities across the five gewogs and various sectors under Thimphu Dzongkhag. Tasked with maintaining accurate and transparent records of public finances, the Accounts Sector handles budgeting, expenditure control, revenue collection, and financial reporting. By adhering to national financial regulations, the Public Finance Act, and directives from the Ministry of Finance, it ensures that funds are utilized efficiently for the benefit of the community. Beyond managing accounts, the sector also provides technical guidance and capacity building to gewog administrations to strengthen local financial governance and promote transparency at the grassroots level.
