Administration

The Administration Sector serves as the central coordinating arm of the Dzongkhag Administration. It plays a key role in managing daily administrative operations, supporting governance functions, and ensuring the smooth delivery of services to the people of Thimphu Dzongkhag.

Background

The Administration Sector was established as part of Bhutan’s decentralization initiative, aimed at strengthening local governance and improving public service delivery. It acts as the backbone of the dzongkhag, facilitating coordination among various sectors (education, health, agriculture, engineering, etc.), gewog administrations, and the central government. It oversees vital functions such as human resource management, official correspondence, record-keeping, logistical support, conducting dzongkhag meetings, and assisting the Dzongda (District Governor) in implementing policies and plans. The sector also ensures compliance with national rules, policies, and guidelines issued by the Royal Government of Bhutan.
