ICT
The ICT Sector of Thimphu Dzongkhag plays a pivotal role in modernizing local governance and bridging the digital divide between urban and rural areas. Guided by Bhutan’s national vision for a digitally connected society, this sector is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining information and communication technology systems that support the dzongkhag administration and its five gewogs.
Background
Its responsibilities include managing the dzongkhag’s network infrastructure, maintaining official websites and online services, ensuring data security, and providing technical support to civil servants across various sectors.
Beyond its technical role, the ICT Sector actively promotes digital literacy and the use of technology to improve service delivery, transparency, and citizen engagement. It works closely with the Department of IT & Telecom and other central agencies to introduce e-governance initiatives, helping make public services more accessible and efficient for the people of Thimphu Dzongkhag. Through these efforts, the ICT Sector contributes not only to administrative efficiency but also to Bhutan’s broader goal of harnessing technology for inclusive and sustainable development.
ICT Services
– To enable effective and efficient ICT service delivery.
– Enhance basic ICT skills by providing trainings to non ICT staffs
– Provide reliable ICT infrastructure and connectivity
– Sensitize on Google Apps to Dzongkhag users
– Improve public service delivery through innovative ICT services
– Provide basic networking and computer operation /troubleshooting training to CC Operators and Gewog staffs.
– The Dzongkhag ICT Sector would also be responsible to look after the internet downtime of CC
– Update the website content
– Managing the Local Area Networks in the Dzongkhag as well as in the gewogs
– Looking after all GovNet project
– Ensure compliance to e-GIF standards
